Carrara welcomes a new design icon with the opening of the first Poltrona Frau monobrand store in Italy, entirely designed according to the concept of the famous architect Michele De Lucchi. Poltrona Frau: 100 years of timeless elegance
Founded in 1912, Poltrona Frau is an icon of high-end design, based in Tolentino, in the Marche region. Its Residential Living division celebrates craftsmanship and the use of noble materials such as Pelle Frau® leather, creating indoor, outdoor and office furniture of unparalleled elegance. Among the most famous pieces are the Chester sofa and the Vanity Fair armchair, designed by the founder Renzo Frau, alongside masterpieces such as Dezza by Gio Ponti and Titano by Pierluigi Cerri – the first Compasso d’Oro for the brand. Today it collaborates with big names in international design such as Jean-Marie Massaud, GamFratesi, Faye Toogood, Neri&Hu and the Palomba Serafini studio.
Michele De Lucchi: a master of art and architecture
Architect, designer and academic, De Lucchi is known for his humanistic approach to design. One of the founders of the Memphis movement and former design director at Olivetti, he has created iconic projects all over the world. His work stands out for its ability to blend craftsmanship and innovation, tradition and experimentation. The portals in Calacatta 900: marble welcomes the visitor
One of the distinctive elements of the store are the monumental entrances enriched by portals in Calacatta 900 marble, designed and created by the technical team of Interni now with materials supplied by Franchi Umberto Marmi. An ode to the territory: the marble, extracted from the local quarries that have made Carrara famous throughout the world, is transformed into contemporary architecture in a perfect fusion of material and design.
Leathership and Marbleship: the union of Italian know-how
The new Carrara store embodies a unique and all-Italian combination: Poltrona Frau‘s Leathership – synonymous with excellence in leather processing – is intertwined with Interni now’s Marbleship, rooted in the culture of Carrara marble. Two worlds that perfectly represent the value of “Made in Italy”, where high craftsmanship blends with design culture to create spaces with a strong identity.
Material room: a creative lab for architects and customers
The new store is not just about display, but also innovation and service. A materials library area displays materials, fabrics, finishes and samples to support industry professionals, architects and interior designers, as well as end customers who are passionate about design.
