The origins of Flou
“The bed is a special place where the future is born, where couples connect, where families are created, where people think about their tomorrows. That is my opinion today as it was when I founded Flou all those years ago”.
Rosario Messina
These words contain the beating heart of the company, started in 1978 with a few partners and then completely acquired by Rosario Messina. Flou was born from his zeal, his intuition and determination to make the “culture of sleep” a real business goal.
Today the three children of Rosario Messina – Cristiana, Manuela and Massimiliano, the President – lead Flou, continuing the path of growth, research and development that has made the brand an example of a family business capable of achieving international leadership and being present in most qualified furniture showrooms in the world (like ours!).
Iconic designs
Flou designs are known for their elegant aesthetics and high quality materials, able to satisfy the most contemporary, classic or modern tastes.
The catalog offers a wide range of products, obviously including beds, mattresses, linens and accessories for bedding, but also furnishings for the living and outdoor areas.
Flou’s path is made up of successes, confirmations and recognitions, the most important of which are certainly the two “Compasso d’Oro” awarded by the ADI – Association for Industrial Design – in 2004 and 2020.
Nathalie
The first contemporary upholstered bed with completely removable covers.
This piece of furniture is still unrivaled today and is a watershed moment in the history of design; Nathalie was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for her lifetime achievement in 2020 and is protected as a work of art under the European design law.
What else to add?
MyPlace
Softness is a fundamental aspect of the MyPlace line, which, as the name suggests, aims to be “my personal environment” of comfort and well-being. In bed, the high and soft headboard acts as a soft cushion, ready to welcome and relieve any tension. The sofa, on the other hand, is a modular system designed to create private islands for individual relaxation, giving complete freedom to social interaction.
Ari
The complements of the Ari collection enhance the sleeping area with clean lines and a romantic charm. Ari’s design pays attention to every detail: the handles and base are finished in a beautiful black chrome; the wooden structure is illuminated by matte or glossy galuchat effect lacquering, giving the bedside tables and chest of drawers a great visual impact.
Duetto
Much more than a simple daybed, single or double bed. Duetto, symbol of versatility and refinement of design, can be made even more comfortable by adding a backrest, which makes it the ideal sofa to embellish living rooms and open spaces.
Servomuto
An unconventional stool, coat stand or bedside table: a modern reinterpretation of a classic object with multiple uses. Once you have it, you can’t live without it. What are you waiting for? Order it right here.
Pierre
The secret of the Pierre collection lies in its curves, which allow you to combine separate pieces or partially overlap poufs and tables from the same series, creating pleasant islands and sequences with naturally harmonious shapes. The lines are dynamic, fresh and capable of bringing a personal touch of creativity to any environment, even outdoors.
Present and Future
Flou was born with the clear aim of developing a new culture of sleep, but over the years it has managed to expand to offer a 360-degree concept of comfort and well-being for every room in the house. On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2022, it also launched the first outdoor collection, in perfect continuity with the pre-existing indoor proposal.
From the bedroom to the “whole living” and beyond: in 2013 Flou founded Natevo, the first Italian company to design, produce and sell furniture with integrated LED lighting. Natevo is above all a project with a high ethical rate, an objective of social commitment aimed at reducing the energy and economic costs of our homes.
Flou has also always been committed to using natural and recyclable raw materials, collaborating with local suppliers, reducing waste production and limiting energy consumption, believing that environmental protection is inextricably linked to its original mission: provide high quality products that have been studied, designed and manufactured to improve comfort, well-being and quality of life.
