The warm season is upon us and we can’t wait to start spending time outdoors, relaxing and enjoying contact with nature.
Gardens, balconies, terraces are to be considered as extensions of our homes and, as such, to be furnished with the same care as indoor living areas.
Among the various styles that can be chosen to enrich the aesthetics and atmosphere of outdoor spaces, one of the most appreciated and used is undoubtedly the Mediterranean one, recalling the holiday climate typical of coastal life mixed with the colors and materials of its typical landscape.
The color palette
Mediterranean-style houses are treasure chests of essential elegance that embody a strong bond with the natural world that surrounds them. The shades of blue and light blue that recall the color of the waves and the sky, the gold of the grains of sand, the green of the Mediterranean maquis, the white of the light that enters through the windows are just some of the shades that evoke the serendipity and the landscapes overlooking the Mare Nostrum.
You can use one or more of these shades, both in solid colors and reworked in textures and patterns, not only for the Mediterranean-style furnishings, accessories and fabrics of your home, but also for walls and floors.
The materials
Mediterranean design is timeless. Yet, it has the characteristics of older houses, such as floors in rough materials, exposed wood and stone walls. The protagonists are certainly the warm and natural raw materials, but also ceramics, ideal for making coverings, tiles decorated with majolica and home decor accessories.
To make the whole contemporary and in step with the times, these traditional elements are combined with furnishings that take up the materials and finishes, but reinterpreting them in a modern and more up-to-date key.
And then the final touch: carpets in sisal, coconut or recycled materials flanked by curtains, sunbrellas and decorative cushions, in airy and light fabrics such as cotton and linen.
The furnishings
A bit of tranquillity, the sun on the skin and the prospect of an evening in pleasant company. To enjoy the moment we don’t need a special occasion, but a special place. A house where the transition from inside to outside is fluid, where the joy of living in summer radiates well-being and the Mediterranean atmosphere inspires the color combination of the furnishing choices.
Nature, architecture and furniture must blend into a harmonious whole that invites conviviality.
A living area where to relax and enjoy the company of friends and a good cocktail, a dining area where to organize dinners on summer evenings, plus various armchairs, tables and accessories because “the more, the better”.
