Posillipo is a name of Greek derivation – Pausilypon, literally “who frees from worries” – which refers to the reassuring beauty of the panorama on the city coast.
It is the prestigious hill of the Neapolitan city which, with an open view of the sea, embraces Vesuvius from the Gulf of Naples to that of Sorrento. Here a dense grid of narrow streets overlooks the cliffs that plunge into the water and unravels between elegant villas and historic homes, including Villa Rosebery (one of the residences of the President of the Republic) and our Villa O.
Created in collaboration with the Luca Dini Design & Architecture studio, Villa O is a reconversion project in which the large spaces and numerous openings of an old restaurant have become the added value of a building now transformed into a private residence.
The furnishing elements and the pieces of art are an integral part of this interior design project, with which we wanted to recreate an elegant, refined and characterful atmosphere.
Hellenistic paintings recall the Greek origins of the early history of Posillipo and entirely custom-made design solutions celebrate the excellence of Made in Italy craftsmanship that is founded in the Campania region.
Our favorite custom-made solutions
the protagonist of the living area: the double-sided fireplace in tobacco gray marble
Among them, there are two custom projects that have fascinated us the most: the double-sided fireplace and the TV cabinet, both in the living and dining area.
The first, aesthetically more striking and relevant, is the result of a careful and targeted design that is based on our experience in the use and processing of Carrara marble, in this specific case Tobacco Gray.
Horizontal cut marble blades emphasize its vein and enhance the dimensions of the structure of the entire fireplace, which thus manages to be the protagonist of both environments in which it is inserted.
a TV cabinet that combines technology and refinement
At the center of the living area of the second hall – between the conversation area furnished with Archibald armchairs by Poltrona Frau and the informal living space with Atoll di B&B Italia – there is a storage unit with wooden slats, more hidden but equally sleek and refined, which houses a TV inside, liftable when in use and that rotates 180°.
Above the sofa, a full-width skylight allows the entry of an additional source of natural light, which softens the environment and emphasizes its welcoming atmosphere.
A glass staircase connects the main hall with the lower floor, intended to accommodate an additional lounge area and a space dedicated to wine tasting. There is also a wine cellar, entirely clear being made of glass and made to measure in the compartment beneath the stairs.
Much more than a master bedroom
The heart of the sleeping area is the master bedroom, which also houses a private lounge with fireplace, a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom.
The plaster paneling, which links together the wall decorations along the entire house, in the bathroom is re-proposed in marble with frames in gray Collemandina contrasting the Gioia white marble’s background.
Large windows also connect the sleeping area with the outdoor space and open the view on the sea and Vesuvius, making awakening and nightfall always magical and relaxing.
