The Scandinavian company was founded in 1872 by Fritz Hansen, who created the furnishings for some of Copenhagen’s most significant buildings. His sons and grandsons carried on the business focusing on the production of bentwood and tubular steel furniture in the style of the famous Thonet furniture.
The firm is a pioneer of Danish design and is home to some of the most iconic pieces of the nordic aesthetics. Some of the masterpieces created under the name of Fritz Hansen are the Egg Chair and Swan armchairs, the Ant, Drop and Series 7 chairs by Arne Jacobsen.
Contemporary collaborations include those with Piero Lissoni, Nendo, Monica Förster, GamFratesi and many others.
