In 1934, Piero Boffi decided to break free of the conventional corporate job routine to set up Boffi. Later in 2022, the brand is still surging year after year in the international interior design world.
Huge names make up the list of Boffi’s prestigious directorial board and the three visionary architects – Piero Lissoni, Antonio Citterio, and Luigi Massoni – have steered the brand to a new artistic horizon. Let’s discover more about the iconic brand!
In 1934, Piero Boffi left an aircraft manufacturer, Caproni, to bring forth a top-tier luxury kitchens brand. Later in 1947, his sons joined the company as it inaugurated its first factory.
The company’s journey began in the world of luxury in 1960, with the high-end kitchens Xila and Dogu, designed by Luigi Massoni, and continues today under the name of Piero Lissoni, artistic director since 1990.
More than thirty years later, Boffi’s success continue peaking. In 1995, in conjunction with the opening of the first international flagship store in Paris, Boffi was awarded the Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award – the most recognized award in industrial design.
Until today, the brand’s primary objective is to create pragmatic designs with an edge for discernment and luxury.
Iconic Designs
Boffi’s designs create a statement of their own, catching the attention of experienced and rookie design enthusiasts alike. Let’s shed light on some of their best projects.
Hide - the hidden kitchen, Designed By Piero Lissoni
A revolutionary design that features a fully equipped kitchen unit “hidden” behind doors. The one-of-a-kind model is customizable and perfect for every space you can think of: small spaces, homes, and offices.
K2, Designed By Norbert Wangen
K2 is one of the first models of the ingenious Kitchen Cube series – a single kitchen countertop that slides over and conceals the hob and the sink when not in use. The Cube is customizable into any shape and size and is among the best solutions for both your indoor and outdoor spaces.
Brompton, Designed By Piero Lissoni
A modern connotation of classic shelving systems, fit to adorn any space. The vertical planks attach to the ceiling for a mid-of-the-room shelf or fix to a wall for conventional storage. The matte black structure carries little current to light LEDs without visible circuitry behind shelves.
The connoisseurs of design, Boffi, and De Padova, joined hands to present a handle-less bathroom cabinets system. The storage system features a handle-rail on the top of the cabinet in the same finishing.
CT Line, Designed By Victor Vasilev
A cosmopolitan landscape with tall buildings and skyscrapers as the inspiration, the CT line showcases obliquely placed shelves of varying heights and depths to give a contemporary twist to any wall. The final Boffi’s touch? It is available also in the “termo” version, to further combine aesthetics and functionality.
Present and future
In 2015, Boffi and De Padova agreed on taking over the design market hands in hand. The collaboration is the cornerstone of the brand’s international proliferation with stunning ranges for luxury kitchens, beds, shelving, bathrooms, furniture, and accessories.
Recent partnerships with stellar architects and designers like Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and Monica Armani, among the others, are paving the way to even better heights for the brand.
Through the years, Boffi has been the epitome of finesse and perfection, and under the guidance of such incredible designers, we can’t wait to find out what wonders its future holds for us.
