Dimora Palanca – hotel project in Florence

Have you ever been to Florence? Universally recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it is a varied mix of history, culture, wealth, art and architecture. And it is precisely from the architecture that began the design journey we have carried out together with the architect Stefano Viviani and his team.
Dimora Palanca, today a 5-star hotel designed by studio Viviani and furnished by Interni now, is in fact a nineteenth-century residence located in the center of the Tuscan capital. Frescoed ceilings, stuccoes, and rich boiserie are the trait d’union that binds together the noble historical architecture of this residence and our classic contemporary proposal, entirely signed by B&B Italia and Maxalto.

When the hotel feels like home

The first impression has a fundamental function when approaching something new because it anticipates and partially reveals what will happen next. And we wanted the first impression with a welcoming flavor, a “welcome home” atmosphere, elegant and informal.
Guests staying at Dimora Palanca are greeted by a sober plaque in Carrara marble and, through a staircase in the green, they enter a large and bright space, a welcoming hall with armchairs and an elegant table that serves as a reception.
The residential functions have been adapted to the new intended use, and so, for example, the original living area was where the current one is. This choice is based on the current trend that sees the world of Hotellerie, made up of important buildings, designer furnishings and fine linens, overlap with the feeling of well-being that you get when at home.
The architect Martina Viviani, a member of Studio Viviani, underlines how this trend is also dictated by our current lifestyle, very dynamic and always on the move, which leads us to identify as home all those places that make us feel good, without necessarily having to take root. And how to blame her?

Why choosing B&B Italia and Maxalto as a monogroup design

All the rooms are different but linked by the same common thread: attention to detail and the luxury of simple lines. Each new room is a new stage of the same journey, in continuous discovery but never disorienting. Creating a B&B and Maxalto mono-brand space was, therefore, the most risky and right choice that could be made, because it is the details, the tactile perception of the fabrics, or the texture of the seams that tie all the spaces together.

The Febo collection, citing a thought by interior designer Paolo Dovichi, is the perfect representation of the considerations underlying the choice of creating a mono-brand space: a wide range of products, both in terms of finishes and dimensions, perfect for bringing the same identity and proportion in different environments and with different dimensions.
Furthermore, the creation of custom-made solutions, for finishes, materials and dimensions, has given us the opportunity to take care of the interiors in the smallest detail and to make even the smallest rooms feel spacious and welcoming.

And so I thought: let's pretend it's my home, I can afford a house in Florence, I make it beautiful, I make many rooms because I want to host many people... but I would have done it like this, contemporary with respect for everything historic.
